I heard that sitting in the back is the worst place for taking off and I heard it has the most turbulence throughout the ride. Is this true?.. and sitting down on the seats, INSIDE the airplane, not in the cargo bay, and not on the outside of the airplane.

This is for you trolls: Get real, you aren't funny.. it's not my fault you have no friends.|||Anywhere in the back is the worst! It is loud because of the engine, you will most likely be the last one off, and that's usually where the restrooms are!|||It is true the rear of the airplane has the most turbulence felt and it is very wavy feeling upon landing and take off. Sit near the wings for the best ride or just forward of the wings. And make sure you are forward of the engines for the least amount of noise.

I never sit in the back anymore. Sit cose to the middle as possible and you will forget you are even on a airplane|||Seat 29E, not even kidding, in nearly every plane it SUCKS! Check snopes for the explanation. Not sure if there is a worst place for everyone, someone who doesn't mind smells wouldn't mind the lavatory, deaf people wouldn't mind the sound, etc.|||The worst place INSIDE? Why in the world didn't you say so in the
first question?

That answer is easy:

On the pilot's lap.

Or in the overhead luggage bins.

Or on the refreshment cart.

Or in the aisle.|||All things considered: way in the back. You'll probably be next to the toilet, you'll get most of the engine noise, and experience the greatest excursions during manoeuvring and turbulence. Some aircraft, the cabin gets narrower toward the back, too.

Last off the plane at your destination, too.|||Sitting anywhere in the back of an airplane is bad. You feel every little bump during turbulence, it's loud when the engines are mounted on the back of the plane and not the wings (MD88), it stinks because of the lavatories, and you are the last one to get on and off the plane.|||The forward area of the cabin -
In case of crash, you will arrive in heaven before all the ones sitting behind you -
Pilots will be first in any case -|||The seats directly in front of the exit rows because they don't recline. The seats next to the engines in an airplane with fuselage mounted engines because of noise. Turbulence can make the ride more uncomfortable in the extreme rear or extreme front but turbulence is uncomfortable everywhere so there's not much difference in my opinion. Any discussion of choosing seats because of safety concerns is nonsense. The chances of getting out in an accident are either near 100% in a minor event or near zero in a major one no matter which seat you're in.
