according to Islam, it's forbbiden to worshio or venerate someone else before Allah then? why is it allowed to venerate or to worship the black stone in meca? and what kind of power is that? and why do muslims criticize the christian catholics because they have images of saints and mary and jesus when islam is allowed to venerate a black stone? why is that?|||It's meteor that fell from god or something? So that makes god real and an alien? I don't even KNOE...|||They dont worship the stone. it just decorations. Mecca is the directions where muslim pray towards|||Oh really?

Muslims do not worship the black stone. They regard the stone as a created thing. The most fundamental principle of Islam is that nothing or no one is to be worshipped except Allah, the one true God.

Muslims who can afford the journey are required once in their lifetime to visit the House of Worship in Makkah. This was the first house built for the worship of the one true God. It was constructed by Abraham and his son Ishmael, peace be upon them. The black stone was brought to them from heaven by the angel Gabriel to function as a corner stone. It was thus affixed in one corner.

Because Muslims kiss that stone, some observers hastily conclude that Muslims worship it. A kiss, however, is not an act of worship unless it is accompanied by an intention to worship. If you kiss your child, for instance, that does not mean you worship your child.

Some may find it strange that Muslims should treat a stone with respect. But this is not just any old stone. It is an item out of paradise.

The act of fixing a stone to mark a place of worship is as old as history. In the Bible we are told that Jacob, on whom be peace, had fixed a stone at a place where he saw a vision. He poured oil on it and called it Bethel meaning 'house of God' (see Genesis 28:18). He did this again upon God's instruction (see Genesis 35:1, 14, 15). No one should understand from this that God instructed Jacob to worship the stone.|||Muhammad continued the pre-Islamic practice of venerating the Black Stone. Bukhari, Muslim & Abu Daw'ud reported that 'Umar approached the Black Stone & kissed it. Then he said: "I know that you are a mere stone that can neither harm nor do any good. If I had not seen the Prophet kissing you, I would have never kissed you."

Al-Khatabi said: "This shows that abiding by the Sunnah of the Prophet is binding, regardless of whether or not we understand its reason or the wisdom behind it."

Such information devolves obligation on all those whom it reaches, even if they may not fully comprehend its significance. It is known, however, that kissing the Black Stone signifies respect for it, recognition of our obligation toward it, & using it as a means of seeking Allah's blessings. (As-Sayyid Sabiq, Fiqh us-Sunnah (Hajj & `Umrah), Indianapolis: American Trust Publications, 1992, vol.5, p. 75.)

All Muslims today must continue this idolatrous practice when they go on pilgrimage (Hajj) to Mecca, even though it is such obvious shirk. Why must they do it? Because Muhammad did it.

FACTS ABOUT THE KABA (BLACK STONE)

Muslims believe (without proof) that the revered "black stone" (Alhajar Al-Aswad) is a special divine meteorite that pre-dates creation that fell at the foot of Adam and Eve.

It is presently embedded in the south eastern corner of the Kaba. Muslims touch and kiss the black stone during Hajj but non-Muslims are strictly forbidden to even touch it.

Before Muhammad appeared, the Kaaba was surrounded by 360 idols, and every Arab house had its god. Arabs also believed in jinn (subtle beings), and some vague divinity with many offspring.

Among the major deities of the pre-Islamic era were al-Lat ("the Goddess"), worshiped in the shape of a square stone; al-Uzzah ("the Mighty"), a goddess identified with the morning star and worshiped as a thigh-bone-shaped slab of granite between al Talf and Mecca; Manat, the goddess of destiny, worshiped as a black stone on the road between Mecca and Medina; and the moon god, Hubal, whose worship was connected with the Black Stone of the Kaaba.

The stones were said to have fallen from the sun, moon, stars, and planets and to represent cosmic forces. The so-called Black Stone (actually the color of burnt umber) that Muslims revere today is the same one that their forebears had worshiped well before Muhammad and that they believed had come from the moon. (No scientific investigation has ever been performed on the stone) <<<--- Gee, no wonder... why find the truth behind the stone....

In 930, the stone was removed and shattered by an Iraqi sect of Qarmatians, but the pieces were later returned. The pieces, sealed in pitch and held in place by silver wire, measure about 10 inches in diameter altogether and several feet high; they are venerated today in patched-together form

And they call Christians idol worshipers because they have crosses in their churches....... These people kiss the stone and worship it.. following their pagan worship is all it is. Nothing but a bunch of hypocrites.|||no non no no
u are wrong when we are there in mecca we pray for allah no for this stone it is just aholy area

ok man|||Islam criticizes other muslims, christians and everyone. I wouldn't be looking to their black rock to try to stir that up. They already fight enough amongst themselves without having to add us to it.|||Mecca or Makkah is the birthplace of prophet Muhammad, . In the center of the mosque in Mecca, is the cube-shaped building called a Kaaba (Ka'bah) is found. All Muslims face the direction of the Kaaba during ritual prayer (Salat).

Muslims believe that the Kaaba is the holiest place on earth. It is generally thought to have been built by Prophet Abraham. It is used only as a focal point for prayer (not worshiped) and simply signifies a direction, imposed by God to maintain unity and uniformity among worshipers.

The Kaaba is draped with a black cloth, which is covered with Koranic verses that are embroidered in gold and silver thread. During performing the Hajj ceremony a Muslim walks seven times around the Kaaba and then he or she kisses and touch the Black Stone.

Every Muslim family, no matter where they live, knows what direction the Kaaba is from their house.

So they don't worship a blackstone.|||Hi, nice question. Many people ask this. The answer is very simple. We Muslim don't worship anything that is created. Stone is a created thing. There is nothing special about the black stone. The black stones is just a corner stone of kabbah(the black box like buliding). The kabbah is a marker for where Muslims are suppose to face when praying. Muslims kiss the stone but not worship it. Kissing is not worshiping.|||It's strange that when Catholics kiss the feet of the statue of the Virgin Mary they are condemned as idolaters; but when Muslims kiss the black stone they are not idolaters.
The Black Stone at Mecca is not unique; there were many kabba-like structures all over Arabia each with their black stone. It's originally a pagan custom.
Many of the religious practices of Islam is taken from paganism.|||i get it, it's hard for non muslims to understand it, lol. we aren't hypocrites or anything, the stone is not for worship, we believe that the stone was brought down as a pure white stone a long time ago, and gradually it darkened with the sins of mankind, until it became black . im not trying to force anyone to believe what i do, everyone has a choice to believe what they want. no need to hate

i've never been to Hajj, i haven't seen it before and i don't know what you do when you see it... that's all i know about it. it's called hajer al aswad (the black stone) but we definitely do NOT worship it, just to clear it up...|||Whoever worships the black stone is not a Muslim.|||do your country have a flag?yes
do you love this flag and you don't have any problem on kissing it?yes
do you worship that flag?no

we don't worship stone or "black box"..its just a symbol of muslims unity...feeling that millions of muslims like me are praying for the same direction give me a great feeling of unity between our souls before our bodies.

we believe that black stone is from heaven and we kiss it or touch just to feel that we are touching a piece from heaven...we never have the feeling of bowing to it..and you could find this very clearly when omar bin al kattab(second caliph of muslims) said when he was talking to that stone "O stone, i know that you are just a stone and you can't bring good or bad to me, but im kissing you coz i saw prophet muhammad did this".

we have many traditions in islam that non muslims find them weirdo:P
for example...we are circling around ka'aba and we do this counter clock wise, do you know why?
birds, electrons, sun, moon..etc moving in orbits and since we are part of this universe we do the same...its kind of unity between all creatures:)

walking in counter clock wise is so easy and health....lol i tried to circle clock wise and i got headache...you could do this by yourself to find if im lying or not:P

2- we sleep on our right side.....your body feel better if you do this...one of the good thing about that is make your lungs feel better..your right lung is begger than the left..so if you sleep on your left side your right lung will put your left lung under pressure..

also we could sleep on our back, but its prohibited for muslims to sleep on stomach.

3- we say bismilah(by the name of allah) on water or food before eating or drinking.....science tell us that water effect by what you are saying on it....you could check this vedeo
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbE7Np9_l…

sorry i have many other examples but i think you got bored:P

thnx|||thankyou for asking about Islam
we muslims do not worship the black stone..
all the stone is, is a corner stone marker for the kabba building.. historically it was sent down from heaven (or if you want to call it a meteorite, so be it) to Abraham and his son Ismael by God to use as a cornerstone marker in the kabba.. nothing more..
people/scientists in England have tested the rock and are certain that its not of earth, so it is assumed that it is a meteorite..
the stone does not do anything, it doesnt have magic, it doesnt grant us prayers, nothing.. its just historically valuable as belonging to the original kabba built by Abraham..

Oh. and you mentioned christians being criticized for images of saints, mary and jesus.. well what do you have to say about the commandment#2
You shall not make for yourself any carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.

God tells christians not to do that, but for some reason, they chose to not obey God in that little matter.. hmm? makes one wonder doesnt it.. I guess the bible is a pick and choose book..|||Ka’bah is the Qibla i.e. the direction Muslims face during their prayers. It is important to note that though Muslims face the Ka’bahduring prayers, they do not worship the Ka’bah. Muslims worship and bow to none but Allah.
It is mentioned in Surah Al Baqarah:

“We see the turning of thy face (for guidance) to the heavens: now shall We turn thee to a Qiblah that shall please thee. Turn then thy face in the direction of the Sacred Mosque: wherever ye are, turn your faces in that direction.”
[Al Qur’an 2:144]

1. Islam believes in fostering unity

For instance, if Muslims want to offer Salaah (Prayer), it is possible that some may wish to face north, while some may wish to face south. In order to unite Muslims in their worship of the One True God, Muslims, wherever they may be, are asked to face in only one direction i.e. towards the Ka’bah. If some Muslims live towards the west of the Ka’bah they face the east. Similarly if they live towards the east of the Ka’bah they face the west.

2. Ka’bah is at the Centre of the World Map

The Muslims were the first people to draw the map of the world. They drew the map with the south facing upwards and north downwards. The Ka’bah was at the centre. Later, western cartographers drew the map upside down with the north facing upwards and south downwards. Yet, Alhamdullilah the Ka’bah is at the centre of the world map.

3. Tawaaf around Ka’bah for indicating one God

When the Muslims go to Masjid-e-Haram in Makkah, they perform tawaaf or circumambulation round the Ka’bah. This act symbolizes the belief and worship of One God, since, just as every circle has one centre, so also there is only one Allah (swt) worthy of worship.
4. Hadith of Umar (may Allah be pleased with him)
Regarding the black stone, hajr-e-aswad, there is a hadith (tradition), attributed to the illustrious companion of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), Umar (may Allah be pleased with him).

According to Sahih Al Bukhari, Volume 2, Book of Hajj, Chapter 57, Hadith 1605. Umar (ra) said, “I know that you are a stone and can neither benefit nor harm. Had I not seen the Prophet (pbuh) touching (and kissing) you, I would never have touched (and kissed) you”.
5. People stood on Ka’bah and gave the ‘adhaan’

At the time of the Prophet (pbuh), people even stood on the Ka’bah and gave the ‘adhaan’ or the call to prayer. One may ask those who allege that Muslims worship the Ka’bah; which idol worshipper stands on the idol he worships?
