Does it cost more to run the light over the stove then a regular lamp?|||The light over a stove is the same as what is in a lamp,
No the cost is the same|||The same wattage buib will cost the same to run, no matter which fixture you have it in.
The advantage to the light over the stove is that it is directed over the work area, and very close, so that you might get enough useful light from a lower wattage bulb - that is a 40 watt over the stove might be more useful than a 75watt on the ceiling, and would cost you less to run.|||It all depends upon the wattage rating of your stove bulbs as compared to a "regular lamp". The lamp's wattage rating is usually stamped on the bulb or on the base.|||Your light on the stove is usually only large enough to light the cooking surface, 20 or 25 watts. A regular lamp will likely be much higher wattage and will normally light the entire room. Of course more watts equals more expense. It depends on what you want to do.|||It depends on the rated power consumption. If you have a sixty watt bulb in a lamp, and another sixty watt bulb in the range hood, then the power consumption is the same. However, if the fan in the range hood is on while the bulb is lit, then the combined power consumption of the light, and the fan is more than what you would get from a normal lamp.
