Can vermiculite be used as insulation around a chimney liner?
I have been told vermiculite expands 30x when heated. Can I use it safely around my chimney liner, and how do I know how much to put in?|||isnt vermiculite made with asbestos? if so would you put it anywhere you may breath it?|||you better use the regular insulation for liners. won't expand or burn.|||No, it wasn't made for a chimney liner insulation; it is used to grow plants.

Papaw|||Vermiculite is an Excellent Insulation , and has been used many times when a closed fire is installed.
