I'm searching for mythology concerning dragons and I'm having trouble answering this question. Does this come from pop culture, or does it have basis in classical mythology somewhere?|||I've never read that in any traditional legend.
The warning against **speaking with** dragons is ancient (because, it is said, the dragon can cleverly talk you into doing something foolish or ensorcell you in some way with the magical power of his words and voice), and this ancient legend was used by Tolkien in "The Hobbit" (as well as in "Farmer Giles of Ham").

But other times, it gets the dog angry, and he attacks you, same with the cat.
This is probably what the staring at the dragons eyes is talking about. Either you'll become the dominant, or the dead.
Dragons are just like animals...|||It was believed that if you looked them in the eyes, you would die. You would no longer see the whole Dragon or the danger that it represents or poses to your own life. In mythology it could have several different reasons.|||It depends upon the mythology you're reading at. Some dragons, on some stories may petrify you or something. It really depends upon your source.|||It is from pop culture. I am Druid so I know a bit about Dragons. There is no basis in classical.|||because u might get eye ******
