How would a musical instrument benefit the motor skills of a young child, say six years old. Someone help. Thank you.|||It forces them to focus on the task at hand, and musical instruments require movement, whether it be through the air passage or using hands. A musical instrument can 'bring to life' your sensory nerves and such, and the child can understand how to use this to his or her advantage. For example, this is a guitar exercise that is hard at first, but as soon as you get it, it's so easy. Try it out; it's all about the motor skills. You'll see what I mean.

You don't need an actual guitar for that exercise, you can do it on a table or whatever flat surface you have available to you.
